Who I've been hates who I am...

Several years ago, Relient K released a song called "Who i am hates who I've been". I've definitely felt that way, but I've also felt the opposite.

I think both statements are equally depressing - the first states the naivety of youth is something to be ashamed of, while the latter underlines the compromises adults make and I guess for me represents a bit of backsliding.

I'm not sure what's worse though... remembering all the stupid things you did that was wrong in the past or thinking of how you were once maybe a bit closer to God.

Thoughts?

i think the problem is that in our youth we are so shocked then truth is illuminated that we are blinded to those things around us instead of lettingthe light illuminate them. When we grow older we begin to understand how hard it is to show mercy and love the LORD our Godand our neighbor as ourself that we become lazy and jaded and forget that it is not done in our own power, but through Christ (Take my yoke upon you for my yoke is easy and my burden is light). Thanks for your thoughts and all the good work you do.

I think many of us are afraid to fail. Afraid for others to see our weaknesses. At times I have felt this way, but as I grow closer to Christ I am learning that if someone is trying, genuinely trying, then failure is another step toward success. By reducing our ego's and understanding that we are all talented at something and have something to offer and humbling yourself to God, that it is ok to show yourself, your true self to others. This is something I have learned through both age and the spiritual road that I have chosen. We are all children of God and all are failures at some point. It is all part of learning that you are all in the same boat and learning as we live. It is true for the young and old. It is God's way.
